At the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, trotting was a source of income for many people. The Friesian Horses were extremely well-suited for this discipline. In the winter, people made use special snow sleighs, the so-called “arrenslee”. Those sledding competitions uses to be great events. Next to money, people could win prizes as e.g. silver ornaments and bells and other harness accessories. In addition to this, frozen water offered the possibility of transportation for many people. Instead of a carriage people made use of the beautiful arreslee, provided with splendor and jingling bells. Our bellshawls are completely hand made and can be manufactured in a color according to your wish.
The plumes are hand made and hand colored by original horse-hair. The shawl is provided with bells of various sizes what results in a mixed sound while the horse moves.
